Southern Six high school teams will be well-represented in the annual Crossroads Diamond Club All-Star Baseball Games on the campus of William Carey University in Hattiesburg.
Three games pitting the South All-Stars against the North All-Stars will take place May 28-30 at Milton Wheeler Stadium.
The 5A/6A/7A South All-Stars will be coached by Picayune’s Evan Nichelson. He will have a dozen players from the Southern Six.
“I appreciate the opportunity,” said Nichelson. “The talent on both sides is incredible. It’s going to be a great experience.”
He will be assisted by Long Beach coach Garrett LaRosa.
Nichelson will have two Picayune players he’s quite familiar with taking the field for the South team in Tanner Busby and Kyler King. The seniors were instrumental in leading the Maroon Tide to the 6A South State quarterfinals this season. Both are gifted pitchers and strong hitters.
Also representing Region 4-6A will be George County’s Gage Reeves, a member of the 2024 Class 6A state champion Rebels.
From Region 4-7A are three Gulfport Admirals in Ethan Garner, Ethani Surowiec, and Nico Williams. They played critical roles this season in guiding Gulfport into the 7A playoffs.
Ocean Springs, which won the 4-7A crown and knocked off Gulfport in the playoffs, will be represented by Chris Fox and Simon Kruppa.
Also from Region 4-7A will be Harrison Central’s Tri Gaughf and Biloxi’s Logan Fontanelle.
East Central’s Nate Trochesett and Vancleave’s Hunter Parker, a member of the 2024 Class 5A state champion Bulldogs, will represent Region 4-5A.
The 5A/6A/7A All-Star Game will be played on May 28 at 6 p.m.
On May 29, Resurrection Catholic’s Hayden Porter, Luke Schnoor, and Trace Tingle will be competing on the 1A/2A South team.
Three Southern Six players will represent their schools in the 3A/4A All-Star Game. Poplarville’s Emile Pace, St. Patrick’s Cohen Weinhofer, and St. Stanislaus’ Brady Walls are on the South roster.
The game is set for May 30 at 6 p.m.
