PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast had 20 student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District teams today.
There were 10 women and 10 men to make the squads. Community colleges, Canadian institutions and other non-NCAA and non-NAIA division comprise the College Division, which gets at-large teams on the men’s and women’s side.
The women’s winners include soccer’s Valentina Marin (So., Bogota, Colombia/Colegio Madre Matilde), tennis’ Kendall Burn (So., Wiggins/Stone), softball’s Jett Harrell (So., Clarksdale/Lee Academy), softball’s Jorja Roberson (So., Branyan/East Union), soccer’s Angela Moreno (So., Sevilla, Spain/IES V Centenario), basketball’s Simaru Fields (So., Pass Christian/Gulfport), basketball’s Ja’Sharreah Hunt (So., Roxie/Franklin County), basketball’s Tytiana Buckley (So., Meridian/Meridian), softball’s Kamryn LaFosse (So., Lake Charles, La./Sam Houston) and soccer’s Lainey Cunningham (So., Wiggins/Stone).
The men’s winners include football’s Joe Bradford (So., Pass Christian/St. Stanislaus), golf’s Andrew Zielinski (So., Ocean Springs/Ocean Springs), football’s Gabriel Showalter (So., St. Martin/St. Martin), baseball’s Marc Stephens (So., Orange Beach, Ala./Gulf Shores), golf’s Will Burnham (So., Jackson/Jackson Prep), golf’s Jackson Wise (So., Pontotoc/North Pontotoc), tennis’ Triston Hill (So., Perkinston/Stone), baseball’s Ty Mancha (So., Albuquerque, N.M./Mobile Christian), baseball’s Jayden Mark (So., Petal/Petal) and football’s Dramarian McNulty (So., Brookhaven/Brookhaven).
The All-District teams are the first step in the prestigious Academic All-American program, with the men’s team being announced on July 16 and the women on July 17.
