PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast dominated the All-Region 23 Women’s Basketball Tournament Team, putting three players on the six-player squad. The Bulldogs won their first region title since 1977 in the event, which was concluded at Tougaloo College in Jackson.
Guard Ja’Sharreah Hunt (So., Roxie/Franklin County) was named the tournament Most Valuable Player. She averaged 15.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in the Bulldogs’ three-game run to the title.
Guard Tytiana Buckley (So., Meridian/Meridian) and forward Je’Mya Evans (So., Gulfport/Harrison Central) joined her on the All-Tournament Team. Buckley averaged 12.0 points and 7.3 rebounds, and Evans averaged 13.7 points and 8.7 rebounds.
