After Pass Christian started the Class 4A South State playoffs off with a win Monday night over Raymond, a trio of other members of Region 8-4A continued that same type of success one day later.
League champ Stone slapped visiting South Pike 12-0 Tuesday night, and both Bay High and Greene County followed suit on the road as the Tigers nipped McComb 6-5 and the Wildcats beat North Pike 6-3.
In McComb, Bay bolted out of the gate with a run in the first inning three more in the second and yet another pair in the third to take a 6-3 lead after three frames of action and then held on for the win.
Junior Maddux Mayo with a pair of hits including a double and he drove in a game-high three runs. Walker Seymour had two doubles in the winning effort and he also drove in a run for the Tigers, while Brennan Bilich also had two hits and Ethan Kingston had an RBI-walk.

Braden Necaise started and went six stanzas on the hill for Bay High to pick up the win, as he allowed 10 hits and all five runs while striking out four and walking the same number.
McComb is the top seed from Region 6-4A while Bay High is the four seed from Region 8-4A. The two teams will resume their best-of-three series Friday night in the Bay.
Elsewhere, right down the road in Summit, Miss., Greene County prevailed 6-3 over home-standing North Pike in the opening game of that playoff series.
Collin Pipkins guided GCHS at the plate as he collected a game-high three hits, including two doubles, and he also drove in a pair of runs in the win. Brycen Johnson added a run-scoring double for the Wildcats, and Landon Green had a pair of hits for Greene County as well.
Pipkins also went almost six innings on the mound to pick up the win.
The same two teams will face off in Leakesville Friday night.
Stone easily beat visiting South Pike 12-0. Game two will be in Magnolia on Friday. There was no information available on Tuesday’s game.

On Monday, in Pass Christian, with five runs in the bottom of the first inning and Southern Miss signee Peyton Lacy throwing on the mound combined to be a winning recipe for the Pirates as the game basically was over before it even started. The Pirates no-hit the visiting Rangers in five innings and won easily 15-0 in Game 1 for the best of three series.

“I thought we started out the way we wanted to, we swung the bat really well, hit the ball well, and scored some early runs,” stated Pass Christian Head Baseball Coach Ricky Smith. “We took some pressure of the mound, even though Peyton pitched really well tonight. Brendan Necaise is going to be our starter Friday and we don’t want to take Raymond High School for granted.”
