As the high school volleyball regular season nears its conclusion, playoff positions are still up for grabs.
The Region 8 Class 3A title is at stake tonight as second-place St. Patrick hosts first-place Our Lady Academy with the Crescents seeking a season sweep of the Lady Irish for the championship. OLA (20-3, 5-0) remained unbeaten in the region after a three-set sweep of Perry Central. St. Patrick (14-2, 5-1) looks to avenge an early-season loss
and send the race into a tiebreaker situation. The Lady Irish are coming off a 3-0 sweep of Tylertown.
Region 8 1A leader Resurrection (8-5, 5-0) travels to Sacred Heart in Hattiesburg. The Lady Eagles are coming off a tough five-set victory against second-place East Marion this week.

In Region 4-7A, Ocean Springs (17-2, 7-0) moved closer to the title, sweeping its series against Gulfport. Ocean Springs travels to Biloxi (9-5, 5-2) tonight. The Lady Admirals (17-4, 5-2) will play at D’Iberville tonight. Gulfport and Biloxi are tied for second place. The Lady Admirals and Lady Indians clash in Gulfport next Tuesday.
D’Iberville is coming off a sweep of Harrison Central and has positioned itself in fourth place, a game ahead of the Red Rebelettes. Harrison Central is at St. Martin tonight with the Lady Yellow Jackets still looking for their first region win.
In Region 4-6A, the Hancock Lady Hawks (19-6, 7-0) have taken control of the race after a sweep of Picayune and can wrap up the title with a win tonight at Pascagoula. West Harrison, Long Beach and George County are all battling for the second through fourth spots. The Lady Rebels, coming off a big four-set victory against Long Beach, host Picayune tonight. West Harrison travels to Long Beach tonight for a huge match with playoff-seeding implications. The Lady Hurricanes are coming off a

East Central hosts Vancleave next Tuesday. The Lady Bulldogs need a win to split the season series. A victory for the Lady Hornets
will all but wrap up the title. Gautier picked up a four-set victory against Stone this week and moved to 3-3 in region play. The Lady Cats, also 3-3 in region play, travel to Laurel next Tuesday.
In Region 3-5A, Pearl River Central continues to battle Terry for second place behind West Jones and is coming off a five-set victory against Jim Hill. The Lady Blue Devils host Forest Hill next Tuesday.
Region 4-4A is wide open with Poplarville, Pass Christian and Bay High all 3-1. The Lady Pirates picked up a tough five-set victory against Poplarville on Tuesday night to tighten this race. Greene County is in fourth place and hosts Pass High tonight. Bay High will play at the Pass next Tuesday for a big match.
The regular season ends on Oct. 3.
