Long Beach ended its state-wide longest 29 game on-field losing streak Friday night with an impressive 34-20 win over Purvis.
It was the first win for the Bearcats since a season-opening 21-12 road win over West Harrison in 2020.
No other details were available.
The Bearcats remain on the road next week traveling to Petal.
Ocean Springs 39, Natchez 13
Will Smith ran for five touchdowns Friday night as the Greyhounds celebrated Homecoming by winning their third straight game to move to 3-1 on the season.
The contest marked just the second all-time meeting n the gridiron between the schools since South Natchez and North Natchez merged into one school in 1989.
Poplarville 49, Pearl River Central 12
The Hornets traveled south down I-59 about 20 miles Friday night and came away with an impressive win over the homestanding Blue Devils in Carriere in the renewal of this county rivalry.
It marked the third straight win for Poplarville after a season-opening loss, as head coach Jay Beech’s squad sits at 3-1. Pearl River Central drops to 0-4 overall and is still in search of its first win under new head coach Jacob Webb.
The Blue Devils have lost eight straight games and 13 of their last 14 games. The decision marked the sixth straight win for PHS over PRC in the annual battle.
Harrison Central 55, Tylertown 26
Red Rebel quarterback Tri Gaughf completed 13 throws for 215 yards and three touchdowns as HCHS remained unbeaten and moved to 3-0 with the win. Tyree Barnett proved to be one of Gaughf’s favorite targets as he hauled in six passes for 129 yards and a touchdown. Jaden Eckford ran for three scores as well.
Hattiesburg 53, Biloxi 28
The Indians are now 0-2 on the road as they fell to the homestanding Hub City Tigers Friday night in convincing fashion.
Biloxi has won its two home games, and stands 2-2 overall.
Tiger tailback Tavares Wade ran for over 230 yards and scored four touchdowns in the win.
Biloxi returns home to host Pascagoula next week.
Resurrection 23, Mt. Olive 0
Luke Schnoor threw for two touchdowns and Ian Cumbest added three field goals as the Eagles moved to 3-1 on the season.
Daniel Pickens hauled in a 20-yard touchdown toss and Jaylen Harper collected a 39-yard scoring strike for RCS.
The Eagle defense allowed the Pirates to only cross the 50-yard line twice and held the opponent to less than 100 yards of total offense.
Resurrection is open next week.
Stone 30, St. Martin 13
The homestanding Tomcats jumped out to a quick 17-0 halftime lead in this battle of previously winless “Southern Six” squads Friday night at A.L. May Stadium on the campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on went on to hand new head coach Jacob Aycock his first win as a Tomcat.
Ethan Galloway scored a trio of touchdowns for Stone, including catching a pair of scoring strikes from quarterback Connor Tice. Daylon Collins added a scoring run in the win as well for the Tomcats.
