The Ocean Springs Greyhounds won their eighth game in a row by beating D’Iberville 53-40 in Region 4-7A basketball action in D’Iberville.
Maddox Noblitt led the way for the Greyhounds with 21 points, including three 3-pointers and an outburst of nine points in the fourth quarter as Ocean Springs put the game away.
Ocean Springs jumped out to a 15-3 lead in the first quarter behind the play of Noblitt, Christian Bingham and Elijah Isom.
From that point on, Ocean Springs had the game in hand.
D’Iberville tried to make a game of it in the third quarter with Samad Lockhart scoring eight of the team’s 14 points in the period and teammate Jaylen Johnson scoring all 10 of his points in the fourth quarter.
Still, the early deficit was too much for the Warriors to overcome.
Isom scored 11 points for the Greyhounds and Johnson had 10.
Ocean Springs (10-2, 2-0) will host Biloxi on Friday.
D’Iberville girls 60, Ocean Springs 32
Amiyah Simpkins had 20 points, including four 3-pointers, in the Lady Warriors’ victory.
Simpkins knocked down two 3-pointers in the first quarter and two more in the second to give D’Iberville a 22-11 lead at halftime.
The Lady Warriors’ Teeale Wells joined the scoring party in the third quarter as D’Iberville put up 21 points to essentially put the game away.
Starr Jackson of Ocean Springs consistently scored and finished with 15 points, but the Lady Warriors were too tough. They outscored the Lady Greyhounds 38-21 in the second half.
D’Iberville (7-5, 1-1) will host Gulfport on Friday and Ocean Springs (2-8, 0-2) and will play at home against Biloxi on Friday.
