The high school baseball playoffs continue this week across Mississippi for teams in Classes 1A through 4A.

Teams in the Southern Six moved on to the next round after winning their best-of-three first-round series.

Resurrection Catholic vs. Noxapater

The two-time defending state champion Eagles completed a two-game sweep on Monday night as Hayden Porter drove in five runs on three hits to lead RCS to a 14-1 victory at Noxapater.

Porter had an RBI single in the first inning, a three-run double in the second, and a solo homer in the fifth inning to pace the Eagles.

Justin San Miguel blasted a grand slam as RCS scored five runs in the fourth inning.

The Rock-A-Chaws blanked JDC 15-0 on Saturday in Sumrall to sweep the series.

Chelsey Rhodes belted a three-run homer and Will Powell blasted a two-run homer in a six-run third inning to power SSC to the victory.

Rhodes, who had three hits, added his fourth RBI as the Rocks blew the game open with nine runs in the fifth inning.

Jeremy Mares got the win on the mound, allowing one hit and striking out eight in four innings.

The Rocks (16-9) will play Friday at 7 p.m. at Southeast Lauderdale in Game 1 of their best-of-three series. Game 2 is set for 2 p.m. Saturday in Bay St. Louis. A third game, if necessary, is set for Monday at 7 p.m. in Southeast Lauderdale.

The Fighting Irish swept their series after winning 8-1 on Saturday in Biloxi.
