Pearl River soccer announces 2024 campaigns

POPLARVILLE, Miss. – The Pearl River men’s and women’s soccer teams announced their 2024 schedules on July 30. Both squads will have ten home games a piece in 2024.

MEN’S SOCCER
The PRCC men’s program looks to capitalize on a successful 2023 season that saw the Wildcats return to the NJCAA DII National Tournament following their Region 23 championship thriller against Gulf Coast.
The Wildcats will kick off the 2024 regular season at home in a non-conference showdown against Gulf Coast on Aug. 24. The River will travel to Ellisville for another non-conference match to face Jones on Aug. 26 before closing out August with a home contest against Northeast (Iowa) on the Aug. 31.
Pearl River will open September at home against Mineral Area on Sept. 3. The Wildcats will travel to Senatobia on Sept. 10 to face Southwestern Illinois and St. Louis on Sept. 13. Pearl River will open MACCC play at Southwest on Sept. 17 before hosting Copiah-Lincoln on Sept. 20. The River will travel to Senatobia on Sept. 24 to face Northwest before closing out September at home. The Wildcats will host Meridian on Sept. 27 and have a non-conference matchup against National Park on Sept. 29.
The Wildcats will hold its annual Cayce Seal game at home against Holmes on Oct. 4 and Sophomore Night against East Mississippi on Oct. 8. Following East Mississippi, Pearl River will hit the road for three straight games. Pearl River will travel to Perkinston on Oct. 11 to face rival Gulf Coast before heading to Decatur to play East Central on Oct. 15. PRCC will travel to Raymond to play Hinds on Oct. 22 before returning to Poplarville to take on Jones in the annual “Cat Fight” on Oct. 25. The Wildcats will close out the regular season at home against Itawamba on Oct. 29.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
The PRCC women’s soccer team will look to build on the momentum created in the past couple of seasons following its 2022 Gulf District Semifinal and 2023 finals appearance. The Wildcats won three of its last four regular-season games heading into the Region 23 Tournament.
PRCC will open the 2024 regular season at home on Aug. 27 against Pensacola State, followed by a home contest against Northeast (Iowa) on Aug. 31.
The Wildcats will open September with a non-conference home match against Mineral Area on Sept. 3 before opening MACCC play on the road against Southwest on Sept. 17. Pearl River will return home to face Copiah-Lincoln on Sept. 20. Following a road contest at Northwest, PRCC will return home to close out September. The River will host Meridian on Sept. 27 and National Park for a non-conference match on Sept. 29.
Pearl River will open October with back-to-back home games against Holmes on Oct. 4 and East Mississippi on Oct. 8 which will be Sophomore Night. The Wildcats will become road warriors with three straight road contests before closing the regular season at home. PRCC will travel to Gulf Coast to face the rival Bulldogs on Oct. 11 before heading to East Central on Oct. 15. The Wildcats will close out the road trip against Hinds on Oct. 22. Pearl River will host Jones for the annual “Cat Fight” on Oct. 25 before closing out the regular season at home against Itawamba on Oct. 29.  

ABOUT THE WILDCATS
Drew Gallant’s men’s team finished the 2023 season with an overall record of 11-6-3 and a 7-1-3 conference record. The 2023 season was highlighted by a 13-game run without a defeat. PRCC returns 2023 NJCAA Second Team member Tiago Honorio Jr. (São Paulo, Brazil; Zacarias Antônio da Silva).
Head coach Henrik Madsen’s women’s soccer team finished 2023 with a 12-6-1 overall record and 7-4 in the MACCC. The Wildcats return Second Team All-MACCC members Frederikke Nielsen (Spentrup, Denmark; Randers Statsskole) and Amélie Wittenkamp (Oelstykke, Denmark; Egedal Gymnasium).

Tickets for the 2024 Pearl River soccer season are available now at PRCCAthletics.com/Tickets! Advanced purchased tickets are $8, and tickets purchased on gameday are $10.
