Across The Southern Six: Region Standings, This Week’s Games And Last Week’s Scores

High school football region action is in full gear with all Southern Six teams now in the mix to get those coveted playoff berths.

Key games Friday in Region 4-7A
In 4-7A, region co-leaders Ocean Springs and Harrison Central will meet at Greyhound Stadium.

Gulfport, another co-leader, sits atop the standings with a 5-2 overall mark and will host D’Iberville.

Biloxi will travel to St. Martin with both teams battling for their first region win of the season.

In 3-6A, much-improved Pearl River Central is co-leading the region at 1-0 after a road win last week against Forest Hill.

The Blue Devils, who have won two straight games for the first time since 2016, will host Terry.

Meanwhile, undefeated Hattiesburg will entertain Forest Hill and Jim Hill will face non-region foe Raymond. West Jones, also 1-0 in the region, has a bye.

In 4-6A, region co-leaders Hancock and George County will square off in Lucedale. Both are 1-0 in the region.

The Rebels are coming off a region-opening win over Long Beach while the Hawks snapped a four-game skid last week with a win over West Harrison.

Picayune, which is also 1-0 in the region after a big win over Pascagoula last week, will play at the Hurricanes. Long Beach and Pascagoula will be seeking their first region win in a game at War Memorial Stadium.

In 4-5A, the region lead is up for grabs when Wayne County travels to Gautier to take on the Gators, who are riding a four-game win streak. Both teams are 1-0 in the region.

Stone, also 1-0 in the region, will host Vancleave while East Central and Laurel will both be searching for their first region win when they face off “between the bricks” in Laurel.

Meanwhile, Greene County and Bay High square off in a key region game for both teams in Leakesville.

The 5-1 Wildcats are riding a four-game win streak while the Tigers snapped a five-game losing skid last week with a region win over Moss Point.

Pass Christian will travel to Moss Point with both teams seeking their first division win.
