PERKINSTON — Make it back-to-back for Mississippi Gulf Coast’s guard Tytiana Buckley. The sophomore from Meridian was named MACCC Player of the Week for the second time in a row after another strong set of performances for the first-place Bulldogs.
She shot the lights out on the way to a 25-point night in a 63-57 win over East Central. She also had a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double in a 66-60 win at Coahoma.
Buckley made 5-of-7 from behind the arc against ECCC and shot 60 percent from long range for the week.
Three different Gulf Coast players have won Player of the Week honors. Buckley joins Simaru Fields as having won it twice, and Je’Mya Evans also won it.
The award was voted on by the conference sports information directors, and Buckley is now eligible for national honors.
