PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast will not complete its game against Copiah-Lincoln which was protested in March. Heavy rains in Wesson on Sunday and Monday washed out that possibility.
The Bulldogs were leading 7-6 at the point where the game was to be resumed, so Gulf Coast will win the game by that score.
That finalizes the MACCC standings and the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament seeding. The Bulldogs finish as the sixth-place team in the conference, winning a tiebreaker over Itawamba. Those teams will host play-in round games in the region tournament as the Nos. 7 and 8 seeds.
Gulf Coast will entertain 10th-seeded Northwest Mississippi. First pitch at Ross-Smith Field will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Northeast Mississippi, the No. 9 seed, will travel to Itawamba.
Buy your tickets ahead of time to save money. It costs $7 for adults or $5 for youth online, or $10 and $7 at the gate. Tickets are available at http://mgcccbulldogs.com/tickets, and the game will be streamed at https://mgcccbulldogs.com/watch.
