Montrell Chapman has been named Bulldog of the Week for Sept. 9-15.
Chapman, a sophomore linebacker from Batesville, had 10 tackles to help lead No. 5 Gulf Coast’s 27-20 win over No. 10 Jones. The Regulators held Jones to 207 total yards, and he had one tackle for loss, and his interception ended the final Jones drive.

Landon Varnes, a freshman quarterback from Brandon, completed 26 of 37 passes for 310 yards and two touchdown passes in No. 5 Mississippi Gulf Coast’s 27-20 come-from-behind win over No. 10 Jones. Down a touchdown, he led two long fourth-quarter drives to win. He scored on a 1-yard tush push to cap a 13-play, 80-yard drive to tie it, then completed a 34-yard touchdown pass in the final minute to finish an 11-play, 96-yard drive for the win.
JP Coulter, a sophomore from Ocean Springs, returned three punts for 45 yards, including a long of 21. He also led Gulf Coast with nine receptions for 118 yards.
