PERKINSTON — For the second straight week, Mississippi Gulf Coast’s David Ruiz Ospina has been named MACCC Keeper of the Week.
The award was announced Tuesday after voting by the conference’s sports information directors.
The sophomore from Manizales, Colombia, got another shutout and another win against a top-20 opponent. He stopped all four shots in a 3-0 win at East Central, and he had two saves to beat No. 19 Mineral Area 2-1.
It’s the fourth time in Ruiz Ospina’s career he’s won the award. He also won the NJCAA weekly award last week for the third time. He’s eligible for the national award, which will be announced Wednesday.
