PERKINSTON — There is no place new Mississippi Gulf Coast women’s soccer coach Jordan Hall would rather be, and he’s known that for a long time.
The former Gulf Coast great, a two-time All-American, is joining head coach Ryan Joiner‘s staff, returning to Perk to help lead the Bulldogs to even greater heights. He’s beginning his collegiate coaching career where he started his collegiate playing career.
“It was an absolute no-brainer decision,” Hall said. “The best two years I’ve had in America were when I was playing at Gulf Coast. I love everything about Gulf Coast, and that’s why I came back to volunteer before. Now to be in a more official role, it’s great. It’s what I’ve always wanted ever since I quit playing.”
If Hall can impart his knack for scoring on the Bulldogs, goals should be pouring in shortly. One of the most prolific scorers in school history, he poured in 57 goals across two seasons with the Bulldogs, becoming the school’s first-ever two-time NJCAA All-American. Gulf Coast went 18-0 in MACCC South play in 2016-17 on the way to a 28-6-1 overall record in two seasons. He was named MACCC Player of the Week eight times and NJCAA Player of the Week once. Hall earned Academic All-MACCC and NJCAA All-Academic honors both years.
“Jordan’s passion for Gulf Coast is obvious. He’s an up-and-coming young coach who’s really made a name for himself over the last three years. He’s spent a lot of time with the women’s league this summer, and his ability to help us recruit internationally, and his connection with our players is going to be really good for us.”
After graduating from MGCCC, he signed to play at NCAA Division I Rutgers, where he had a Big Ten-best 14 goals with two assists as a junior. He finished the year tied for seventh in the country in goals. He earned First Team All-Big Ten honors and a spot on the Big Ten All-Tournament Team.
Hall transferred to UConn for his senior season, racking up nine goals in the first nine games of the year before a knee injury ended his season. He returned to Perk to be an assistant coach of his old team for one season and now coaches youth soccer in the area.
After a year as a physical education teacher back in England, Hall started his coaching career as a volunteer assistant for the men’s team at his alma mater. He spent last year as the girls soccer coach at St. Martin High School, helping the Yellowjackets to the Class 7A playoffs for the first time with a 10-6 record. Hall has also coached for the South Mississippi Soccer Club since 2022.
Hall is married to former Gulf Coast women’s soccer player L.T. Massey.
“I’d like to think coming from an English background, I can bring different things to the table I’ve learned from my playing career,” he said. “Being at Rutgers and UConn, I picked up things and know what it takes to be at that level. That can be an asset, especially with the attacking player. I can help them get to where they need to be.”
