PERKINSTON — Ja’Sharreah Hunt was electric for Mississippi Gulf Coast on the way to the NJCAA Region 23 women’s basketball championship, and she’s been named MACCC Player of the Week for her efforts.
The sophomore guard from Roxie averaged 15.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists as Gulf Coast won three games on the way to the Region 23 championship. In the title game against Southwest Mississippi, Hunt had 23 points, three rebounds and three assists in a 62-50 victory.
It is Hunt’s first Player of the Week award, and she’s the fourth Bulldogs to win it this season. Simaru Fields and Tytiana Buckley won twice each, and Je’Mya Evans got one.
