POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Following an exciting week in Pearl River athletics, Pearl River football’s Jacobi Jefferson (Slidell, La.; Salmen) and women’s soccer’s Frederikke Nielsen (Randers, Denmark; Randers Statsskole) have been named Wildcats of the Week.
JACOBI JEFFERSON
Jefferson was electric in Pearl River’s season-opening upset of No. 7 Northwest. On a rainy night, the Wildcats pounded the rock with Jefferson as the lead back. The freshman tallied 20 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown, including a fourth and one conversion that helped Pearl River seal the game. He also caught one pass for a 24-yard touchdown, making two men miss on the way to the endzone.
FREDDERIKKE NIELSEN
Nielsen had a solid week for the Pearl River women’s soccer team. In PRCC’s season opener against Pensacola State, Nielsen picked up an assist by placing a corner kick perfectly into the box for a Wildcat goal. She followed it up by smashing home a pass on the first touch in a match against No. 6 Northeast, finishing the week with an assist and a goal.
