Angela Moreno picked up No. 13 Mississippi Gulf Coast’s only win Sunday in the NJCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Tournament.
Moreno, a sophomore from Sevilla, Spain, beat Mesa’s Jackeline Almada-Lopez 8-3 in the No. 1 singles consolation bracket. She’ll play Oakton’s Zarina Sayed on Monday.
Kendall Burn (So., Wiggins/Stone) and Niyah Strickland (So., Pachuta/Quitman) will also play in the consolation brackets on the Nos. 1 and 6 courts, respectively.
In doubles, Mikenzy Dubrow (Fr., Biloxi/Biloxi) and Lauren Sullivan (Fr., Laurel/Laurel Christian) will play Weatherford’s Chloe Baker and Sara Maksimovic.
