POPLARVILLE, Miss. — No. 11 Pearl River’s Taylor Johnson-Matthews has been a force for the Wildcats all year long and tacked on another huge week last week. For her efforts, she has been named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Player of the Week.
The award is the second that she has earned this season.
Johnson-Matthews was instrumental in PRCC’s perfect 2-0 week, leading PRCC to big victories over Holmes and Jones College. She opened the week by scoring 21 points and adding in eight rebounds against the Bulldogs. PRCC went on the road to end the week, taking on rival Jones College. In the contest she scored 15 points and hauled in an unreal 17 rebounds to earn a double-double. She was just three assists shy of a triple-double in the game. For the week, she averaged 18 points, 12.5 rebounds and four assists, three steals and 2.5 blocks.
Johnson-Matthews has been electric all season. She currently leads PRCC in points per game (18.5), rebounds per game (6.2) and steals per game (2.6).
