POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Following a phenomenal freshman debut, No. 15 Pearl River’s Zach Howard (Ocean Springs) has been named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Player of the Week.
Howard is the first Pearl River athlete to be named MACCC Player of the Week in the new school year.
In a ranked match between the Wildcats and the No. 11 Bulldogs, Howard bagged a pair of goals to help Pearl River earn a 2-2 draw against its rival. Howard’s first goal came in the 53rd minute when he crashed the near post and tapped a pass by the MGCCC goalkeeper.
The second goal of the contest came in the 73rd minute as the freshman sent a shot flying from long range that went into the top left corner of the net.
