POPLARVILLE, Miss. — It was yet another unbelievable week at the plate for No. 5 Pearl River’s Hollis Porter (Hurley; East Central), and for his efforts, he was named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Player of the Week.
With his selection, Pearl River has swept the weekly awards as Thomas Crabtree (Collierville, Tenn.) was named Pitcher of the Week.
Porter takes home the award after helping lead the Wildcats to a 4-0 week with sweeps of then-No. 12 Meridian and Itawamba. For the week, the left-handed hitter hit .692 with three home runs and two doubles. He drove in seven RBIs, scored nine runs and walked five times. He had an on-base percentage of .778 and a slugging percentage of 1.538 on the week.
Through 35 games, Porter is hitting .413 with a .503 on-base percentage and a .917 slugging percentage. He has hit an NJCAA-leading 14 home runs and added 15 doubles. He has driven in 39 runs and walked 20 times.
