POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Following a dominant start on the mound for the No. 5 Pearl River baseball team, Thomas Crabtree (Collierville, Tenn.) has been named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Pitcher of the Week.
The Wildcats swept the Players of the Week awards as Hollis Porter (Hurley; East Central) took home Player of the Week.
Crabtree is the third Wildcat to earn MACCC Pitcher of the Week, joining JT Schnoor (Pascagoula; Resurrection) and JP Robertson (Madison; Germantown).
Crabtree was electric against then No. 12 Meridian. The freshman kept the Eagles off-balance all game and eventually threw a complete game. He allowed just two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out a new career-high 12 strikeouts.
Crabtree’s freshman year has been fantastic. He has thrown 39 innings and holds a 3.00 ERA. He has struck out 56 batters and walked just 14 on the year. He has a 5-1 record and a WHIP of 1.26 through eight starts.
