POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Southeastern Louisiana transfer Lainee Bailey (Walker, La.) had a week to remember for the No. 6 Pearl River softball team and has earned the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Player of the Week for her efforts.
Bailey wasn’t the only Wildcat to win an award on the week as Natalie Herrington (Petal) was selected as the conference’s Pitcher of the Week.
Bailey is a two-way player for the Wildcats but takes home the award after an unreal start to the season at the plate. Bailey picked up eight hits in her first 11 at-bats of the year for a .727 batting average. Of her eight hits, six were for extra bases, including two homers, two triples and two doubles. She also picked up five RBIs, scored four runs and walked twice.
Additionally, Bailey was electric in the circle. The sophomore pitched 11 innings, striking out 17 batters. She only allowed six hits, one run and didn’t walk a batter.
