POPLARVILLE, Miss. – Pearl River women’s basketball player Taylor Johnson-Matthews (Cleveland, Ohio; Charles F. Brush) has been a dominant force for the Wildcats all season and last week was no different. In recognition of last week’s outstanding performance, Johnson-Matthews has been named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Player of the Week.
In 23 minutes of play, Johnson-Matthews contributed 20 points, six rebounds and three steals in the Wildcats 81-45 victory over Hinds.
Not one to rest on her laurels, Johnson-Matthews turned in an eye-popping performance against previously undefeated Itawamba. In the Wildcats 75-57 victory, Johnson-Matthews had a game-high 27 points while adding seven rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks.
Through 20 games, Johnson-Matthews has averaged 17.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
