The Graves sisters — Bethany and Ziay — helped lead the Pascagoula Lady Panthers to a 43-32 win over the Bay High Lady Tigers. Ziay scored 10 and Bethany scored nine for Pascagoula, who as a team came from behind and scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to seal the game.

“I’m very proud of our effort,” said Lady Panther head coach Crisla Herchenhahn. “It’s not always pretty, but any time we get a win we’ll take it, especially when we came back from being down. We got away from going inside early in the game and then in the second half I challenged them to get back in there and get physical and it paid off.”

The Lady Panthers trailed 26-18 at halftime and only allowed six more points to Bay the rest of the game. Pascagoula’s Keyondra Chambliss made a shot to cut the Lady Tiger lead to two with seven minutes left in the game and followed that with a steal and a layup to tie the game at 30. Then Karly Cunningham made two of four free throws on back to back trips to put the Lady Panthers in front for good at 34-30. Pascagoula is now 3-1 on the season and will head to a tournament this weekend at Minor High School in Birmingham.

John Davis scored 16 points, including 11 points in the fourth quarter, to help lead Pascagoula to a 56-51 overtime win over the Bay High Tigers. Davis hit three free throws to go up four and later hit two free throws to put Pascagoula up 45-42 with five seconds left in regulation. Bay High’s Kyren Galloway then hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game to overtime.

“Davis did a great job finishing tonight. He hit some big free throws for us in the fourth quarter and his practice paid off,” said Panther head coach Lorenzo Wright. “We really fought back in this game. We didn’t come out ready to play, but we responded and that’s a good sign of maturity for us.”

Nalan Kidd chipped in with 12 for Pascagoula and Bryson Hoye had eight. Pascagoula is now 5-0 on the season after defeating Jefferson Davis Saturday at a tournament in Quitman. The Panthers travel to Gulfport next Tuesday night.
