CASPER, Wyo. — Following a regular season that saw the Pearl River women’s rodeo team claim the Ozark Region Reserve Champion, the Wildcats have now kicked off the College National Finals rodeo. The men’s team also had Blake Lyons (Ethel, La.) qualify for the week-long rodeo.
Kate Eiland (Kentwood, La.) opened the competition Sunday, collecting a time of 2.5 seconds in breakaway roping. She will compete in breakaway roping Tuesday at 8 a.m. CT and Thursday at 8 p.m. She will see her first goat-tying action Monday at 8 a.m. CT. She then competes Tuesday at 8 a.m. CT and Thursday at 8 p.m. CT. Both Thursday rounds are performance rounds.
Sydney Poole (Robertsdale, Ala.) began breakaway competition Sunday and earned a time of 12.2 seconds. Her next round is Monday at 8 a.m. CT, followed by a performance round ride Tuesday at 8 p.m. CT.
Molli Rae Kinchen (Tickfaw, La.; Ponchatoula) competed for the first time on Sunday and snatched a time of 3.5 seconds. She will make her second appearance in breakaway roping Tuesday at 8 a.m. CT and competes in the performance round Thursday at 8 p.m. CT.
Karrigan Cagley (Kentwood, La.; Grace Christian) also opened up her competition on Sunday with breakaway roping. She was unable to register a time. She will have a chance for redemption Monday at 8 a.m. CT and will participate in the performance round Thursday at 8 p.m. CT.
PRCC’s lone competitor from the men’s team, Lyons, will compete in team roping with West Alabama’s Clarke Gordon. The pair’s first run is Monday at 8 a.m. CT. They will compete Tuesday at 8 a.m. CT and then participate in the performance round Wednesday at 8 p.m. CT.

The College National Finals Rodeo has expanded television coverage of the CNFR. All performance rounds Tuesday-Saturday will be available on ESPN3 via the ESPN app or a cable subscription.
