POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River women’s soccer head coach Henrik Madsen announced on Wednesday that Carl Blundell has been promoted to associate head coach.
“Carl has been instrumental in growing Pearl River into a national contender the last four seasons. He is a vital part of the PRCC staff,” Madsen said. “In Carl’s four years with the program, he has been instrumental in recruiting in-state and out-of-state/international players. He has helped grow the program into a top 10 program in the country. In addition to being an outstanding coach, his work with our goalkeepers has been fantastic.”
Blundell is entering his fifth season on the Wildcat coaching staff. Blundell’s primary role is recruiting and working with the goalkeepers; he also assists with maintaining the playing areas and running the PRCC Wildcat Academy youth soccer camp.
Under Blundell’s tutelage, goalkeeper Aníta Guðmundsdóttir (Kópavogur, Iceland.; Flensborg) was named an NJCAA All-American in 2022. He also helped coach defenders Lauren Bennett (Long Beach) and Mackenzie Winters (Ocean Springs) who were All-Americans in 2022 and 2023, respectively. The Wildcats have a stellar 40-18-9 record since Blundell has joined the Wildcat coaching staff and have climbed as high as No. 8 in the NJCAA rankings.
