POPLARVILLE, Miss. — It has been a year full of awards for Pearl River softball’s Natalie Herrington (Petal), and the right-hander can add one more to her trophy cabinet as she was named a College Sports Communicators First Team Academic All-American.
The Southern Miss signee earned the designation in the Women’s At-Large College Division after finishing her time as a Wildcat with a 3.87 GPA as a Pre-Medical major. The College Division includes two-year institutions, Canadian institutions, and any four-year institutions in the United States that are not affiliated with the NCAA or NAIA.
“Natalie has accomplished so much in her two years at Pearl River,” head coach Christie Meeks said. “I could not be more proud of her and everything that she represents.”
Herrington had a historic career as part of the Wildcat pitching staff. She finished her two-year career with 313 innings pitched and an incredible 1.61 ERA. She racked up 313 strikeouts and walked just 70 batters. She held a 35-10 record in the circle and threw 34 complete games.
At the end of her sophomore season, Herrington brought home nearly every award. She was named First Team All-MACCC, MACCC Pitcher of the Year, All-Region 23, NFCA All-South Region, NFCA All-America and NJCAA Second Team All-America.
Herrington is the fourth CSC All-American selection for Pearl River, joining Team Member of the Year Graham Crawford (2021), Landon Gartman (2021) and Ronald Baker (2020).
