Prep baseball: Biloxi blazes a path to the top spot in Region 8-6A with a three game sweep over Hancock

Biloxi blazed its way to the top spot in Region 8-6A last week as the Indians swept away Hancock in a three-game league series.
The Indians wrapped up the 3-0 week with a 7-3 win over the Hawks Friday afternoon at home at the Biloxi Sports Complex.
Ian Henry homered for Biloxi for the second straight game with a solo shot in the bottom of the first inning to give the Indians a lead they would never relinquish.
Biloxi secured the win scoring a pair of runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Logan Fontenelle had a run-scoring double for BHS, while both Judson Byars and Brodie Pearson added RBI-singles to the winning effort.

Matthew Cuevas tallied two of Hancock’s four hits, while Tanner Ladner added a double for the only extra-base hit for the Hawks.
Will Miles hurled a complete game for Biloxi to pick up the win, striking out four and walking two and giving up all four Hawk hits. Brandon Arcement took the loss.
The night before, on Thursday, both Pearson and Henry homered for Biloxi as the Indians stopped the Hawks 7-4 in the Kiln.
Pearson’s solo shot in the second put BHS up 2-0 after Robbie Hokamp drove in a run with a ground out n the first frame. Hokamp also had three hits in the win, including a double.
Henry’s solo shot came in the fifth, while Aiden Harrison cracked a two-run double in the fourth frame. Bryson Piarich and Ja’Darius Hartley also drove in runs for Biloxi.
Max Garrett had a pair of hits for Hancock including a run-scoring triple, while Sean Ostehimer had three hits for the Hawks including a pair of doubles. Jaxson Knight added a run-scoring single for HHS, while Cuevas drove in a run as well.
Pisarich started and went the first six stanzas to earn the win, while Cuevas took the loss with five frames of work.
In the series opener, a 6-3 Indian home win on Tuesday, T.J. Smith had a key hit for BHS.

Biloxi now stands at 5-1 in league play with three games left against Harrison Central left in league play this week. Gulfport sits a game behind the Indians in the region race at 4-2, after sweeping a trio of games from Harrison Central last week.
On Friday afternoon, in the series finale, the Admirals jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after the first frame and then added a trio of runs in the third frame to take a commanding 5-0 lead en route to a 7-2 win over the Red Rebels.

Gulfport lead-off hitter Ethan Garner had four hits in four trips to the plate in the win, while Jacob Palazaao had a pair of hits including a triple, and drove in two runs as well. Dawson Hall tallied a two-run single for GHS, while Nicholas Williams had an RBI-single as well. Both Davis Ormes and Braxton Williams drove in a run apiece for the Admirals also.
Daniel Ruiz cracked a two-run double accounting for both HCHS runs.
Ethan Suroweic got the win for Gulfport, while Jaxson Moore took the loss for HCHS.On Thursday night, the Admirals scored a solo run in both the sixth and seventh stanzas to break a 6-6 tie and take home an 8-6 road win over the Red Rebels.
Palazzo’s RBI-single in the sixth broke the tie, and Joel Smith drove in a run with a ground out for an insurance run in the seventh.
Palazzo had a game-high three hits to guide Gulfport at the plate, while Garner added a pair of hits including a double and drove in two runs as well. Braxton Williams clipped a two-run double, and both Ormes and Hall had an RBI apiece also.
Ruiz, Moore and Shaun Cochran each drove in a run apiece for HCHS.
Josh Lee got the win, while Ruiz took the loss.
The Red Rebels hold down the third and final playoff spot in Region 8-6A at this point with a 2-4 mark, while Hancock sit at 1-5. Gulfport and Hancock meet in a three-game series this week.
