It’s game week Bay-Bee!
Prep football in the “Southern Six” kicks off this week, as so does our first “Super 7 in the Southern 6” prep poll as well. Each week, throughout the school year, a staff of our veteran sportswriters will vote on the “Super 7” teams for that week based on results from action the week before and we will publish our rankings each Tuesday afternoon on our Facebook and Twitter (X) pages.
The rankings will encompass ALL seven classifications:

Time for kickoff
It just depends on what time you decide upon.
All prep high school football games were supposed to be going back to 7 p.m. kickoffs this fall starting in week one.
Last season, the MHSAA changed August and September start times to 7:30 p.m., in an effort to be safety conscious with the heat, but is now reversing that decision a year later as all games will return to a 7 p.m., kickoff throughout the season.
But, maybe not. The MHSAA came out earlier this week and gave the teams the choice of moving back kickoff times in both team agree to the change. So, several games in the “Southern Six” have been affected by this policy. Check our Facebook and Twitter pages often for updates.
Also, the MHSAA has already announced the continuation of a recent trend for late regular season games.
For the third year in a row the MHSAA has mandated that the last regular season football game will be played on Thursday night. For squads in Class 4A/3A/2A/1A that game will come on Thursday, Oct. 26th and for teams in Class 7A/6A/5A that game will come on Thursday, Nov. 2nd.
