PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast keeper David Ruiz Ospina is no stranger to the MACCC’s weekly awards, and he added to his collection for the first time this season.
The sophomore from Manizales, Colombia, earned the conference’s Keeper of the Week award for the third time in his Bulldogs career. The award was voted on by the MACCC’s sports information directors.
Ruiz Ospina made two saves to beat No. 9 Heartland 2-1 in a neutral-site game in Senatobia. After beating East Central on Monday, he’s 3-0-1 on the season.
He’s now eligible for the NJCAA’s weekly award, which will be handed out Wednesday. He won that award twice last year, too.
