A familiar face is returning to Pearl River County as a new head football coach.
The Pearl River County School District has approved the hiring of John Feaster at Pearl River Central.
The district made the announcement Thursday via social media.
Feaster, a former assistant coach at PRC, is leaving Moss Point after one year as head coach of the Tigers.
He has spent the majority of his coaching career at Stone High, where he took the Tomcats to the Class 4A South State championship game in 2022. He spent seven seasons as Stone’s head coach and was 39-34 with the Tomcats.
Feaster is very familiar with football in Pearl River County. He played at Picayune as a standout defensive lineman and was a defensive coordinator at both his alma mater and at PRC.
Feaster is replacing Jacob Webb, who had a winless season in 2023 in his only year as the PRC coach. Webb resigned earlier this month to return to Alabama as the coach and athletic director at Morgan Academy in Selma.
Feaster is the third head football coach for the Blue Devils in the past three seasons. During that span, PRC has posted records of 0-9, 1-9, and 2-7.
Webb replaced Jacob Owen before the 2023 season. Owen spent five seasons as the PRC coach, posting a 13-38 mark.
Feaster will be aiming to return the Blue Devils to prominence. PRC hasn’t made the playoffs in nine years. The 2015 season is PRC’s last winning campaign.
