The 2024 volleyball season has reached the midpoint of region play across the Southern Six and teams continue to make their playoff push.
In Region 4-7A, Ocean Springs (24-4 overall, 7-0 in region) is coming off a three-set sweep of Harrison Central and has all but wrapped up a playoff spot.
The Lady Greyhounds travel to Biloxi (9-13, 2-5) on Thursday night. The Lady Indians are battling Harrison Central for the fourth playoff spot in the region.
Harrison Central also sits at 2-5 in region play and will host St. Martin (0-7) on Thursday night.
Gulfport (25-5, 6-1) looks to keep pace with Ocean Springs and travels to third-place D’Iberville (4-3) on Thursday night. The Lady Admirals will host the Lady Greyhounds on Sept. 17.
Hancock leads Region 4-6A with a 5-0 mark. The Lady Hawks are coming off a three-set sweep of West Harrison and will travel to Long Beach (3-2) on Thursday night.
The Lady Bearcats are a game ahead of West Harrison (2-3), which travels to Lucedale to play George County (4-1) on Thursday night. The Lady Rebels have won four region matches in a row.
Picayune (1-4) looks for a season sweep of Pascagoula (0-5) on Thursday night and hopes to stay in contention for the fourth playoff spot.
Pearl River Central (2-3) will host Hattiesburg on Thursday night and will look to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot in Region 3-6A.
In Region 4-5A, Vancleave knocked off rival East Central last week to take control of the race. Vancleave (5-0) will host winless Laurel on Thursday night.
East Central (4-1) bounced back with a sweep of the Golden Tornadoes on Tuesday and will host Wayne County (2-3) on Thursday night
The Lady War Eagles are battling Gautier for the final two playoff spots. The Lady Gators (3-2) will travel to Wiggins to play Stone High (1-4).
Poplarville continues to push toward a second consecutive region title in 8-4A. The Lady Hornets are coming off a three-set sweep of Moss Point (0-4) and will host Greene County (1-3) on Thursday night.
Bay High (3-1) is in second place in the region and will travel to Pass Christian (2-2) on Thursday night for a match with huge playoff implications.
OLA (24-3, 4-0) continues to roll toward the postseason and will host St. Patrick (5-2) in a Region 8-3A match. The Lady Irish are in a battle with West Marion for the second seed behind the Crescents.
Resurrection (5-0) leads Region 8-1A and will host Sacred Heart on Thursday night.
The Thursday night matches are subject to change based on the effects of Hurricane Francine.
