Jackson County is a hot spot for prep football action in the “Southern Six” Friday night as four games take place overall.
In Pascagoula, the Panthers host long time rival Picayune and on Dantzler Street in Moss Point the Tigers host Bay High. In Hurley/Wade, East Central faces Wayne County and in Gautier the Highway 57 showdown between visiting aVancleave and the Gators takes place.
In addition, in Pascagoula on Saturday the annual Zonta Arts and Crafts Festival will fill Delmas Ave., and surrounding areas for yet another celebration of all things Pascagoula.

Since 1982, Scranton’s has been serving exceptional cuisine in a historic, early 1920’s building in Pascagoula that once housed the town’s firehouse and city hall. Today, remnants of the town’s history remain a distinctive part of the dining experience. Guests are welcomed to browse the premises and peek inside the old town vault; dine in the spot where the mayor once conducted business; touch the bars of the town’s original jail cell and glimpse the red roll-top door that once opened to the old firehouse.
While co-owner Richard Chenoweth took care to preserve the building’s unique history, including preserving the old jail cell where prisoners were held until they could appear in court, and an old vault. But the Scranton’s experience is more than simply history. It’s also about the food. “We keep up with all the current food trends,” Chenoweth said. “But we’re essentially a reflection of the community. We give the people what they want.”
