Softball teams in South Mississippi continue to dive into region contests as schedules vary because of spring break and Easter.
In Region 4-7A, D’Iberville and Ocean Springs are one-two in the standings with the Lady Warriors at 4-0 and the Lady Greyhounds at 3-0.
The two teams don’t meet until April 15.
Gulfport is 2-2 and takes on Biloxi this week with the Lady Indians still looking for their first regional win.
St. Martin (1-3) also takes on the Lady Admirals this week.
Harrison Central is 1-2 and travels to Ocean Springs this week in a huge matchup.
The Red Rebelettes are coming off tough losses to Gulfport and D’Iberville.
Last week in Region 4-6A, the defending 5A state champion George County split a two-game series with Hancock.
The Lady Rebels took the opener 10-6 with the Lady Hawks winning 3-2 in Kiln.
The two teams do not meet again in the regular season so the Lady Rebels would hold the edge over the Lady Hawks if they finished tied.
Long Beach is 2-0 after a sweep of Pascagoula.
The Lady Panthers fell to 0-4 after a sweep at the hands of Hancock (3-1).
Picayune and West Harrison split their two games last week and are tied with George County at 1-1. Picayune takes on Long Beach this week while George County tangles with West Harrison.
Stone, East Central, and Vancleave have set up a three-way battle in Region 4-5A.
The Lady Cats are coming off a big win over East Central and have a 3-0 record while East Central is 3-1.
The Lady Hornets defeated Vancleave last week and will host the Lady Bulldogs on Wednesday.
East Central will then play at Wayne County on Thursday.
Wayne County is at Stone on Tuesday.
Gautier is 1-3 and looks to hold off Wayne County and Laurel for the fourth playoff spot.
In Region 8-4A, Poplarville tops the standings at 3-0, but Pass Christian and Greene County are giving chase.
Greene County travels to the Pass this week for a big matchup.
Bay High and Moss Point look to fight it out for the final playoff spot.
In 8-3A, St. Patrick is 6-0 and has two region games left with West Marion beginning Tuesday on the road. The Lady Irish are looking to wrap up the region title.
OLA is still in search of a region win as the Crescents host Tylertown this week.
In 8-1A, Resurrection travels to Salem this week seeking its first region win.
Races will continue to take shape as March winds down and the season heads into next month with playoffs set to begin in 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A on April 19.
The playoffs in 5A, 6A, and 7A will open on April 26.
