POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Complete dominance on the mound has earned No. 4 Pearl River’s Thomas Crabtree (Collierville, Tenn.) a second straight Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Pitcher of the Week award.
It was going to be hard to one-up his previous performance, but Crabtree certainly did it. The right-hander earned the start against Hinds and came six outs shy of throwing a perfect game. The bid was broken up with an infield single off the bat of the leadoff batter in the eighth inning. Crabtree finished his start with seven innings pitched, a season-high 13 strikeouts, one hit, zero runs and zero walks.
Crabtree has been electric all season long for the Wildcats and currently holds a 6-1 record through nine games started. The Tennessee native holds an incredible 2.54 ERA and has struck out 69 batters.
