Bulldogs host MACCC tripleheader Tuesday

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast will host its MACCC tripleheader on Tuesday, with Southwest Mississippi and East Mississippi making the trip to Ken “Curly” Farris Field.

The Bulldogs play SMCC at noon, with the matchup against EMCC set for 6 p.m. Those two teams play each other in the middle game.

Buy your tickets ahead of time to save money. It costs $7 for adults or $5 for youth online, or $10 and $7 at the gate. Tickets are available at http://mgcccbulldogs.com/tickets, and the game will be streamed at https://mgcccbulldogs.com/watch.

  • MGCCC: 8-2
  • Southwest: 6-4
  • East Mississippi: 10-2

Last Time Out

  • MGCCC lost 11-5 at Enterprise State on Sunday.
  • Southwest won a pair of games in Decatur on Friday, beating Southeastern Iowa 9-8 and Southwestern Illinois 13-12.
  • East Mississippi swept a doubleheader against Francis Marion on Friday, winning 8-0 and 12-0.

Previous Meeting

  • On March 21, 2023, Gulf Coast and Southwest split a doubleheader. The Bulldogs won the opener 10-7 and lost the second 6-4.
  • On April 1, 2023, Gulf Coast and East Mississippi split a doubleheader. The Bulldogs won 8-7 in the opener and lost the second 6-2.

  • The Bulldogs are fourth in the NJCAA with 73 walks, sixth with five triples, and seventh with seven hit batsmen.
  • Dom Jackson (Fr., Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze) is tied for third in the country with five home runs, which tops the MACCC along with East Mississippi’s Evan Radford. Jackson’s 16 RBI are 13th-best, and his 1.033 slugging percentage is 20th.
  • Marc Stephens (So., Orange Beach, Ala./Gulf Shores) is fifth in the country with two triples and ninth with 11 walks.
  • Brandon Cain (So., Mobile, Ala./Baker) is fifth in the country with two triples. On the mound, opponents are hitting just .037 against him, eighth best in the country.

  • Friday, Feb. 23: vs. Nunez, Perkinston, 3 p.m. doubleheader
  • Wednesday, Feb. 28: at Pearl River/vs. Jones, Poplarville, noon/3 p.m.
  • Thursday, Feb. 29: vs. Lansing, Perkinston, 4 p.m.
