PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast has already wrapped up a bye in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament, but the men’s basketball team will finish its regular season Thursday at Summit with more to play for.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to tip off against Southwest Mississippi at 7:30 p.m. The game will be streamed at https://go.smccbears.tv/.

Gulf Coast is a game back of first-place Northeast Mississippi and Jones. A win and a couple of upsets could even grab the Bulldogs a share of the MACCC title. They’re tied with East Mississippi for third, so they could wind up fourth, too.

Regardless, they will be opening the postseason Monday at Dantzler Arena at Perk. Tipoff will be at 7:30 p.m. against an opponent to be decided by Saturday’s first-round games.

Southwest is also playing for seeding. They’re in a six-way tie for fifth and could earn a home game Saturday.

Records

  • MGCCC: 17-8/9-4 MACCC, T-3rd place in conference
  • Southwest: 16-12/7-6 MACCC, T-6th place in conference

  • Southwest lost 94-86 at Meridian on Monday.
