JOPLIN, Mo. — All five Mississippi Gulf Coast golfers grabbed spots on the PING All-American teams, which were announced at the NJCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship banquet Monday night.

Will Burnham (So., Jackson/Jackson Prep) and Andrew Zielinski (So., Ocean Springs/Ocean Springs) were named to the First Team, with Peyton Russell (Fr., Gautier/Gautier) on the Second Team. Jackson Wise (So., Pontotoc/North Pontotoc) and Stanley Campbell (Fr., London, England/Essex Golf College) earned Honorable Mention.

Campbell and Peyton Russell (Fr., Gautier/Gautier) were named to the five-man All-Freshman Team.

Burnham has a streak of 11 straight top-five finishes active right now, including a win at the Bobcat Invitational. He’s tied for eighth in school history with three tournament wins. Burnham won the Phil Mickelson Award as the nation’s top freshman last year and was named to the PING All-American Second Team.

Zielinski won the Bulldogs Invitational and has nine top-10 finishes, including five in the top five. He was a member of the All-Freshman Team last year.

Russell won the NJCAA Preview here in the fall and has five top-five finishes, with nine in the top 10.

Wise won the Lou Hart Invitational and MACCC Championship in back-to-back outings. He’s finished in the top five five times with another two top-10 finishes.

Campbell destroyed the field at the NJCAA Gulf District Championship and has four top-five finishes.

All five golfers were named to the East All-Region Team, and Gulf Coast coach Brad Thornton was the East Region Coach of the Year.

The team opens play in the NJCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship here Tuesday.
