Bulldogs split conference opener

Mississippi Gulf Coast got a split in its first MACCC softball doubleheader, bouncing back from a 2-1 loss in Game 1 to win 6-3 at Cleveland, Miss. 

Gulf Coast (18-10) got two doubles from Aleah Beaugez (Fr., D’Iberville/D’Iberville) in the second game. Olivia Keith (So., Crestview, Fla./Crestview) had two hits, including a triple. Jorja Roberson (So., Branyan/East Union) had two hits with a double.

Jett Harrell (So., Clarksdale/Lee Academy) threw a five-hitter.

Natalie Shaw (So., Olive Branch/Marshall Academy) had two hits in the first game.

The games were played at Delta State University.

Delta is now 1-17. 

Gulf Coast plays at Copiah-Lincoln on Wednesday. The doubleheader starts at 3 p.m
