No. 13 Gulf Coast cruises past SMCC

No. 13 Mississippi Gulf Coast took care of Southwest Mississippi 7-2 in men’s tennis action Tuesday in Summit.

Gonzalo Cotter (Fr., Valencia, Spain/IVLA) and Hiram Havard (So., Vancleave/Vancleave) won easily at No. 1 singles, as did Vicente Faria (Fr., Lisbon, Portugal/Escola Secundária de Fonseca Benevides) and Jeremiah Layton (Fr., Brookhaven/Brookhaven) at No. 2.

Cotter swept his No. 1 singles match without dropping a game. Havard, Layton and Smith Walker (Fr., Gulfport/Gulfport) dropped only one game each in their singles matches.

Gulf Coast (6-6, 6-1 MACCC) will host No. 19 Meridian on Thursday at the MGCCC Tennis Complex. First serves are set for 2 p.m.
