PERKINSTON — Je’Mya Evans and Jackson Wise have been named Bulldogs of the Week for March 25-31.
Evans, a sophomore forward from Gulfport, had 21 points and 11 rebounds in the Bulldogs’ 73-64 loss to Three Rivers in the first round of the NJCAA Championship in Casper, Wyo.
Wise, a sophomore from Pontotoc, picked up his first career win by edging teammate Will Burnham by one shot at the Lou Hart Invitational. He shot 4-under with back-to-back 69s at Northwood Country Club, leading the Bulldogs to their ninth straight win.
Also nominated:
Valeria Callejo, a freshman from Madrid, Spain, won all three of her matches last week, including one at No. 1 singles.
Hiram Havard, a sophomore from Vancleave, won all five of his matches last week, including a pair at No. 1 doubles.
Blake King, a sophomore righty from Petal, threw a seven-hitter to beat East Mississippi 11-4. He allowed just three earned runs.
Marc Stephens, a sophomore shortstop from Orange Beach, Ala., batted .462 with five RBI last week.
Savannah Wilbanks, a freshman infielder/catcher from Southaven, batted .500 with two doubles and three RBI last week.
