PERKINSTON — Simaru Fields‘ hot shooting has won her another MACCC Player of the Week award.
The sophomore guard from Pass Christian put on an exhibition in Gulf Coast’s 82-50 win over Itawamba. She made 11-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-6 from behind the arc, on the way to a 28-point, four-assist, five-steal night.
In an 84-38 win at Hinds, she had 12 points, four rebounds and three assists. She shot 70/50/100 for the week.
It’s the third straight week a Bulldog has won the award. Tytiana Buckley went back-to-back the previous two. Fields has now won conference honors twice, and Je’Mya Evans has one award.
Fields is now eligible for NJCAA weekly honors, which will be announced Wednesday.
