Ford’s Early Eight, Team’s Late Eight Give Moss Point Girls 30-24 Win Against West Harrison

The Moss Point Lady Tigers started well Friday night in their 30-24 home victory against the West Harrison Lady Hurricanes.

Jordyn Ford made two 3-pointers and a 2-pointer for eight points to give Moss Point an 8-4 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Going into halftime, with the Lady Hurricanes struggling to make shots, the Lady Tigers were up 17-9.

To start the third quarter, both teams hardly made any shots, but Moss Point still held the lead going into the fourth.

Toward the end of the fourth, Moss Point (7-7) made eight free throws to secure the victory.

Ford scored 15 points to lead the Lady Tigers. Taylor Rae Norwood had eight points to lead the Lady Hurricanes (5-8).

Moss Point boys 46, West Harrison 36

The game began tight with Moss Point leading 9-8 to end the first quarter.

With both teams going back and forth, Moss Point was still able to hold a 17-13 lead at halftime.

The Tigers outscored the Hurricanes 14-8 in the third quarter, and to finish the night, Alejandro Montalvo made six key free throws in the fourth quarter to help Moss Point improve to 8-6.

Montalvo led the Tigers with 20 points and made all eight of his attempts from the free-throw line.

Owen Reese scored 11 to lead West Harrison (8-6).
