POPLARVILLE, Miss. — No. 4 Pearl River baseball’s Hollis Porter (Hurley; East Central) has won the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Player of the Week award for a second consecutive week.
Porter’s unreal season continued last week through doubleheaders against Hinds and Holmes. The left-handed power hitter wrapped up the week with a .400 average, a .500 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage. He bashed two home runs and drove in 10 RBIs in the four-game stretch. He also drew a walk and stole a base.
Through 39 games, Porter holds a batting average of .412 and leads the NJCAA in home runs with 16. He’s also third in the country in runs batted in with 49. He’s tacked on 15 doubles and walked 21 times. With nearly half of MACCC play left to go, Porter needs three home runs to tie the single-season Pearl River record and four to break it.
