POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Fresh off another week of dominating his competition, No. 9 Pearl River’s Tiago Honorio Jr. (São Paulo, Brazil) has been named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Player of the Week.

Honorio Jr. wasn’t the only Wildcat to receive an award on the week, as teammate Cameron Kent (Brandon) was named Goalkeeper of the Week. The selection for Honorio Jr. is his second of the year. He was also previously named NJCAA Player of the Week.

The 6-foot-4 striker opened the week with an impressive showing at Northwest, bagging his third hat trick of the season in the 4-0 victory over the Rangers. A few days later, Pearl River took on Meridian, and Honorio Jr. was incredible again. He continued his big week with another solid showing against Meridian. He picked up a goal and an assist in the match. The goal he scored was unlike any all year. The Brazilian unleashed a strike from three yards beyond the midfield stripe, and the ball sailed through the air to fall into the goal. Finally, in PRCC’s battle with National Park, Honorio Jr. picked up the contest’s lone goal to help the Wildcats capture a perfect 3-0 week. All together, he finished the week with five goals and an assist.

Through 11 games, Honorio Jr. leads the team in goals with 13 and is second in the MACCC. His five assists are second on PRCC and fourth in the MACCC.

The Wildcats remain at the PRCC Soccer Complex Friday for a 7 p.m. match against Holmes. The match will serve as PRCC’s Cayce Seal game. All proceeds will be donated to the Cayce Seal Memorial Scholarship Foundation.
