The 2024 volleyball postseason is set to begin for 19 schools across the Southern Six as the 4A, 3A and 1A teams tip off on Saturday while the 7A, 6A and 5A squads get rolling on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

The top two seeds in each classification open at home while the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds will hit the road and hope to advance.

Poplarville, which enters the 4A playoffs after back-to-back region titles, will host Forest on Saturday. A victory for the Lady Hornets would set up a second-round match against the winner of Sumrall vs. Raymond.

Bay High will also open the playoffs at home, welcoming Quitman to the Coast on Saturday. A win for the Lady Tigers would put them in a second-round match against the survivor of Purvis vs. Richland.

On the other side of the 4A South bracket, Pass Christian heads to Morton. The Lady Pirates would take on the winner of the Forrest County AHS-Seminary match if they can knock off the Lady Panthers.

Greene County heads out on the road Saturday as well and will meet Region 5 champion Northeast Jones. An upset by the Lady Wildcats would move them into a match against the McComb-Columbia winner.

In 3A, heavy favorite OLA opens its title defense at home against Southeast Lauderdale. The Crescents would probably face a second-round match against Franklin County.

St. Patrick will play at Choctaw County to open the postseason. Seminary should advance to take on the winner of the St. Patrick-Choctaw County match.

In 1A, Resurrection will be at home to play Shaw on Saturday and a win by the Lady Eagles would match them up with the winner of Taylorsville vs. Noxapater.

Tuesday night, 7A opens with Ocean Springs and Gulfport hosting matches. The Lady Greyhounds will meet Petal and the survivor will take on the winner of the Harrison Central-Northwest Rankin match, which will be in Flowood.

The other side of the 7A South bracket has the Lady Admirals playing Oak Grove. The teams split a couple of best-of-three matches in the regular season. A win would advance the Lady Admirals into a second-round match against the winner of the D’Iberville-Brandon collision. The Lady Warriors will be on the road to face the talented Lady Bulldogs.

In 6A, the Hancock Lady Hawks open defense of their South State title at home against Terry. If the Lady Hawks can pick up the win in Kiln, they will take on the winner of West Harrison at Hattiesburg.

The other side of the bracket finds George County hosting Pearl River Central in a Southern Six match. The Lady Rebels fell to Hancock in last year’s South State finals.

Long Beach travels to Soso to face West Jones. The Long Beach-West Jones winner gets the PRC-George County survivor.

In 5A, Vancleave captured the region title and will host Natchez. The Lady Bulldogs could be looking at a second-round match against county rival Gautier. The Lady Gators must first go on the road against the Florence Lady Eagles.

In Hurley, the East Central Lady Hornets open another postseason at home, playing Brookhaven. A win over the Lady Panthers would put East Central in the second round against the winner of the Wayne County-South Jones match, which will take place in Ellisville.
