POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Getting a shot by No. 11 Pearl River men’s soccer’s Cameron Kent (Brandon) was impossible last week, and for his efforts, the redshirt freshman has been named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Goalkeeper of the Week.
Kent is the third member of the Wildcat men’s soccer team to earn a weekly award, joining Zach Howard (Ocean Springs) and Tiago Honorio Jr. (São Paulo, Brazil).
Kent wins the award after a stellar week against great competition. Although he did not start the match against Southwestern Illinois, Kent entered the game in the second half and was a difference maker, turning away all six shots fired toward the goal.
He followed up the fantastic effort with another extraordinary showing against No. 14 St. Louis, saving four shots on goal to help Pearl River earn a 1-0 clean sheet over the Archers.
Kent has been solid in goal for Pearl River in its first six games of the year. According to MasseyRatings.com, PRCC has played the fifth toughest schedule in the country, and Kent has allowed just 10 goals against his opponents. He’s racked up a solid 28 saves on the year.
