The Mississippi Gulf Coast men’s tennis team started its Texas road trip against the No. 1 team in the country Sunday.
The No. 13 Bulldogs lost 9-0 to Cowley County in Tyler, Texas.
Gonzalo Cotter (Fr., Valencia, Spain/IVLA) proved to be a tough opponent for Cowley’s Reiya Komagata, the second-ranked player in the country. Cotter lost 7-5, 6-3.
Gulf Coast will play a pair of top-five teams on Monday. The Bulldogs will play No. 3 Eastern Florida State at noon, followed by a match against No. 5 Collin County at 6 p.m.
