PASCAGOULA, Miss. – Pascagoula High School has named Daniel Murphy as the next head coach of the Panther baseball program, promoting the assistant following the resignation of head coach Colton Caver earlier this week.

Murphy has served as an assistant coach for the Panthers over the past two seasons under Caver, helping guide the program while building strong relationships with student-athletes and continuing the tradition of Panther baseball. Prior to returning to Pascagoula, Murphy spent time as the Head Middle School and an assistant coach at Vancleave High School, gaining valuable experience before coming home to his alma mater.

A 2011 graduate of Pascagoula High School, Murphy understands firsthand what it means to wear the Panther uniform. As a standout player during his time at Pascagoula, he developed a passion for the game and a deep appreciation for the tradition of Panther baseball values he now looks forward to passing on to the next generation.

“We’re excited to have Coach Murphy lead our baseball program,” said Pascagoula Athletic Director John Archie.  “Daniel is a Panther through and through. He knows our community, our expectations, and what it takes to build young men on and off the field. His experience, character, and commitment to Pascagoula made him the right choice to lead this program forward.”

Murphy said he is honored for the opportunity to lead the program that helped shape him as both a player and a person.

“It means everything to come back home and lead the program that gave me so much,” Murphy said. “Pascagoula baseball has a proud tradition, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to build on that foundation. I’m excited to work with our players, coaches, families, and community as we continue striving for excellence on and off the field.”

With Murphy at the helm, the Panthers look to continue building a culture of discipline, accountability, and competitive excellence while honoring the tradition of Pascagoula baseball.
